ITU Awards, which aim to support successful scientific studies and academic activities that bring added value to our country, were presented for the second time in a ceremony held at ITU Ayazağa Campus Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center on March 8, 2024.

This year’s award ceremony was held with the theme of “Earth Sciences,” and the “Special Award” of the year was dedicated to the memory of ITU academic Prof. Dr. İhsan Ketin, who discovered the Northern Fault Line and passed away in 1995.

Prof. Dr. İhsan Ketin Special Award in the Field of Earth Sciences was given to Prof. Dr. Aral Okay

The ceremony witnessed emotional moments when this year’s “Special Award” in memory of Prof. Dr. İhsan Ketin was given to Prof. Dr. Aral Okay, ITU Eurasian Institute of Earth Sciences faculty member who passed away in November 2023. Prof. Dr. Okay wrote hundreds of articles throughout his academic career, trained many students, and achieved international success with his academic studies in the field of geological engineering.
