The Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences (EIES) at Istanbul Technical University is an interdisciplinary research and education center dedicated to understanding the dynamic systems of our planet and developing scientific solutions to environmental challenges.
At our institute, research is conducted across a wide scientific spectrum, including solid earth sciences, atmospheric and marine sciences, as well as ecology and evolutionary biology.
Our mission is to investigate critical issues such as climate
change, geohazards, active tectonics and earthquakes, geomorphology, marine geology, ecosystem dynamics, air pollution, and hydrological processes—by addressing them in conjunction with atmospheric, oceanic, and surface processes. The scientific
knowledge we generate and the models we develop contribute not only to solving global environmental problems but also to strategies aimed at reducing natural hazard risks.
Our graduate programs offer students the opportunity to combine theoretical
knowledge with fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and advanced modeling techniques. Research in areas such as geodynamics, climate-ocean systems, regional climate change, atmospheric modeling, and ecosystem sciences is designed to train future scientists
with an interdisciplinary approach.
AYBE holds a respected position in the national and international scientific community and conducts joint projects with numerous scientific institutions in Turkey and around the world. Our institute continues
its work with the belief that science should serve not only academic purposes but also benefit society and decision-makers.
