Our retired faculty member Prof. Dr. Celal Şengör became a member of Rome-based Accademia dei Lincei, one of the most prestigious and oldest scientific academies in Europe. Prof. Dr. Şengör made our country proud by being the second person from Türkiye to be deemed worthy of membership to this academy.

Hacımusalar Mound Excavation to Clarifies the Past

Hacımusalar is a mound (höyük in Turkish), which is a multi-period archaeological settlement in southwest Turkey. The mound is only 12 km to the town of Elmalı. Elmalı is about 100 km west of Antalya metropolitan city.

The project prepared by the team including our faculty member Prof. Dr. Tolga Görüm from Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences, Department of Solid Earth Sciences, Istanbul Technical University Department of Civil Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cüneyd Demirel and Prof. Dr. Erkan İstanbulluoğlu from Washington University, was accepted and granted support by NASA.Project focusing on February 6 earthquakes.

Support from NATO to Our Faculty Member

The project, whose principal investigator is Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences, Department of Solid Earth Sciences faculty member Prof. Dr. Tolga Görüm and the total budget is 565 thousand Euros, was accepted and granted support by NATO.
